How to Wash and Store Cashmere Jumpers

With chilly winters come the best clothes of our wardrobe. In winters you must be looking for warm clothes to keep you cozy. Nothing is better than cashmere when it comes to buying winter clothes. Its super soft material will keep you comfortable and warm all through the winters.

Cashmere is generally quite costly, and you would not want to ruin it with washing. You need to take extra care of the women's cashmere jumpers when you wash and store them.

Here are some tips from experts on how you should wash and store your cashmere jumpers.

How often should they be washed?

It is always a good practice to know when you should wash your woolens. When it is cashmere sweaters, you need to take extra care. Generally, it is a good thing to wash cashmere items after fourth wearing or so. If you are using high-quality cashmere, you will see that it only gets better with every wash. With time, the cashmere jumper will form the fluff, and it will be softer. You will also see that it gets smoother and fluffy with more use.

Does it need to be dry-cleaned?

Not all the plus size Italian jumpers need to be dry-cleaned. Only if they are woven very finely, or embroidered elaborately, they might need some dry cleaning.

Can you use fabric softeners?

Fabric softeners do more harm than good to the cashmere jumpers. It is generally not recommended to use fabric softeners while washing cashmere sweaters. Fabric softeners can flatten the fabric of the cashmere products, and they may wear out very soon. If you want to soften the material, you should use hair conditioner instead of fabric softeners.

How to dry cashmere jumpers?

You need to spread them flat with a dry cotton towel underneath the jumpers. Do not stretch the garment in any direction that you want. This can extend the garments forever. Dry them in slightly scrunched form after shaking them a little. The fabric should retain its elasticity. Therefore, you can put the sleeves and cuff up without letting them hang loosely.

Can you prevent pilling?

Pilling is a natural process that happens in cashmere products like Italian Poncho when you wear them for long. It occurs because of the rubbing of the material with itself. The fine hairs of the fabric get loose, rub against each other and form small balls. You can prevent this from happening by using a special cashmere comb for combing the product.

How to store cashmere jumpers?

Make sure that any storage area that you are using for storing cashmere jumpers is cleaned of dust properly. If you have chosen a wardrobe for keeping your clothes, the make sure that you are taking enough measures to protect the garments from moths. Never use cardboard boxes to store cashmere products as cardboard is not pH neutral and the cashmere fabric can react with the acid or essential nature of the boxes.

Cashmere jumpers require extra care and protection when you wash and store them. Use the tips mentioned above to ensure a long life of your woolens.
